Its been a more than 60 days the world is under quarantine and fear of corona virus is still persists. Most of the white collar employees are working from home and it is said that work from home will be new normal working style. However, post this lock down period, things will not remain the same as earlier. As we have seen in earlier article, how post covid workplaces will be, its necessary for us to understand which skills will be needed after this covid outbreak.

Emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence or EI is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you. Higher EI means you know how the people are feeling, what are their emotions, and how these emotions can affect other people. For leaders, having emotional intelligence is essential for success.

During this scenario, wherein people are started to feel uncertain about their job security, or even about future of their business. At this point of time, connecting with people in emotional manner is required. Bosses have to consider problems of their reportees and understand their difficulties while working.

Learning and Development

During COVID times, many of us saved time of commuting to workplaces. This time has to be utilized for learning and acquiring new skills. Even if you are thinking to switch the job after this covid times for any reasons like salary or appraisals, employers are going to ask you about what value addition was done by you in your professional profile. To check the validity of the switching the jobs, we are conducting survey on "Career Preferences Survey". In the tight job market scenario, particularly in countries like India, people who have advanced level courses done will be in demand. They will definitely have less chances of loosing job or struggling for job. Nowdays, many such Massive Open Online Learning (MOOC) courses websites are available. These include Coursera, Udemy, edX, Future learn, and UpGrad etc. Certain skills that will be in demand will include data analysis, advanced Excel, business intelligence, process and reports automation, digital learning, emotional intelligence, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science to name a few.

Digital Skills

Post COVID era, digital skills will be given weight in key result areas (KRA) or Key performance areas (KPA). On the lighter mode, it can be said that covid pandemic has brought digital transformation in many organizations (its not the CEO or COO of the company). Now people with digital skills which includes ability to handle web based platforms, video conferencing or meeting tools, effective use of shared online platforms such as Google drive or Microsoft one drive, web coding or digital marketing will be in more demand. Companies will also give some points in how much of automation you have brought with use of digital tools.

Data Literacy

Data literacy is the ability to read, work with, analyze, and argue with data. Much like literacy as a general concept, data literacy focuses on the competencies involved in working with data. It is, however, not similar to the ability to read text since it requires certain skills involving reading and understanding data. Remember, data is an important asset for every company. With the right data literacy, businesses will predict business hurdles earlier. With proper data literacy skills, you can demonstrate management or your superiors about next trends in business of the company you are working with. Employees who have strong data literacy skills will be given more importance by employers than earlier.

Leadership skills

Since most of meetings will be conducted virtually on the web in post covid era, you have to take lead in meetings and also demonstrate the leadership skills during the same. In addition to it, collaboration, sincerity, commitment, perseverance and convincing abilities are also required to demonstrate the leadership.

In conclusion, with right skills you can achieve heights of success in post covid era very early and without any hassle.
